Five things nobody tells beginners.
Your mind won't go blank. You won't levitate. You'll still think about your to-do list. That's the practice.
Meditation isn't about emptying your mind. It's about noticing when your mind wanders — and gently bringing it back. That's the entire skill. Everything else is decoration.
1. Two minutes is enough
Set a timer. Two minutes. Sit. Breathe. When the timer goes off, you're done. That's a successful practice. Don't do twenty if you're not doing two.
2. Your mind wandering is the point
If you sit down and think about your email, your dinner, your argument with your friend — that's not failure. That's noticing. Noticing is the whole practice.

3. Sit on something
Sitting cross-legged on the floor hurts after five minutes. Elevate your hips on a cushion. Your knees drop, your back straightens, and suddenly sitting feels easy instead of endurance.
4. The same time every day
Not when you feel like it. After brushing your teeth in the morning. Before you check your phone. Habit beats motivation — motivation doesn't show up every day.
5. Don't track it
Don't use an app. Don't count days. Don't post about it. Just sit. The second it becomes a performance, it stops being meditation.
