Sound Healing

Your first singing bowl, explained.

You don't strike it. You circle it. There's a difference.

A singing bowl isn't a gong. You don't hit it and wait for the ring to fade. You strike it once to start, then circle the rim with the mallet — the tone builds, sustains, and fills the room.

How to play

Strike the side firmly once. Then with the wrapped mallet, circle the rim in a smooth, continuous motion. Apply gentle pressure. If the tone squeaks, you're pressing too hard. If it fades, you're moving too fast.

What it feels like

The vibration travels through your hands, up your arms, into your chest. That's not metaphor — it's physics. The frequency slows your brainwave activity. Five minutes of this is closer to meditation than twenty minutes of trying to empty your mind.

Size matters

Bigger bowls = lower pitch. Lower pitch = more calming. Smaller bowls = higher pitch = more energizing. For beginners, a 4-5 inch bowl is perfect — loud enough to hear, small enough to hold comfortably.
