Your mat is not the problem. Your AC is.
Sweating through your practice in 40-degree heat isn't normal. It's your body overheating, not getting a good workout.
Yoga in 40-degree heat is different from yoga in a 22-degree room. Your heart rate is already elevated before you start. Your sweat is already happening before you move. Adjust or you'll burn out in ten minutes.
Practice at the right time
Early morning, before the sun hits. Late evening, after it cools down. Skip midday. Your body is already working hard just existing in this climate — don't ask it to do yoga on top of that.

Hydrate before, not during
Drink water an hour before your practice. Sipping during class slows you down and dilutes your electrolytes. If you feel dizzy, stop. Sit down. The pose can wait.
Your mat should grip when wet
This is where cheap mats fail. They get slippery when you sweat — you slide out of every pose. Natural rubber actually improves its grip when damp. That's not coincidence. It's why it's the standard in hot yoga studios worldwide.
